History of MoM

 January 6, 2011 – Fr. Scott Binet MD, MI receives written permission from Fr. Renato Salvatore, the General Superior of the Ministers of the Infirm, and the Consulta to establish the Missionaries of Mercy (Consulta Document in Italian). (English Translation of Consulta Document)

June 29, 2011 – Archbishop Thomas Wenski of  Miami says he is “open” to the presence of the Missionaries of Mercy in the Archdiocese of Miami.

November 26, 2012 – Fr. Scott incorporates the Missionaries of Mercy (MoM) in the State of Florida.  (Articles of Incorporation). On the same day MoM, Inc. holds its first board meeting and receives its Employer Identification Number (EIN Document).

November 30, 2012 – Fr. Scott, acting in his role as the President of the Corporation submits Form 1023 to the IRS so that Missionaries of Mercy, Inc. might be recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization by the Federal Government. (1023) Accordingly, MoM, Inc. will serve the medical, humanitarian, pastoral and educational needs of disaster victims directly and through fundraising for and promoting the establishment and development of the nascent ecclesial family of the same name – Missionaries of Mercy.

April 11, 2013 – The Internal Revenue Service approves Missionaries of Mercy, Inc. as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization. See the final determination letter
